Nothing, as long as you are only reading. The site has no forms at all: nowhere on it are you asked for your name, your e-mail address or your card details.

Bookings are made by telephone or by e-mail. What you tell us then — a name, a telephone number, the dates and the number of guests — is used to hold the booking and to reply to you, and is kept for as long as our own records and accounting obligations require.

Our hosting provider keeps the ordinary server logs — IP address, page requested, time of the request — for security and for diagnosing faults.

We would like to know how many people reach the site and which pages they read, and we use Google Analytics for that. Until you press “I agree” in the bar at the bottom, Google Analytics is not on the page at all: no script, no request to any Google server.

If you accept, the Google script loads and sets its own cookies, which record whether you are a new visitor or a returning one. What we see are aggregate numbers — pages, sources, country — not people. The data sits with Google according to the property settings, 14 months by default.

You can change your mind at any time: “Cookies”, in the footer of every page, reopens the question. Refusing is as easy as accepting, and it is what happens if you never answer.

Your answer to the analytics question is kept in the browser’s local storage, under the name vl-analytics-consent. It is not a cookie, it is never sent anywhere, and it does not leave your device; clearing the site’s data clears it too, and the question comes back.

Otherwise the site sets no cookies of its own. The only cookies that can appear are Google’s, after you have accepted, or YouTube’s and Google Maps’, if you press them.

The film on the front page and the map on the contact page do not load by themselves. Until you press them you are looking at a photograph and a button, and YouTube and Google do not learn that you are here. If you do press, the service loads, receives your IP address and may set cookies, under its own policies.

The link to our Facebook page in the footer is an ordinary link. There is no Facebook pixel and no embedded social button anywhere on the site.

• to withdraw your consent to analytics at any time, without explaining;
• to complain to the Romanian data protection authority (ANSPDCP) if you think we have got it wrong.
